Buckhorn Reservoir

Buckhorn Reservoir in Wilson is a great option if you’re looking to do some casual fishing. You’ll find the reservoir off Highway 581 on State Road 1142. There are no boat limit restrictions, which is helpful. The maximum depth of the reservoir is 25 feet, and the water clarity is 6 to 10 feet. You’ll find 850 acres of water and 350 acres of land that are part of the reservoir. While you’re here, you can catch largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, crappie, and more. Feel free to fish all day, because you can access Buckhorn Reservoir from sunrise to sunset.

Lake Wilson

Not surprisingly, Lake Wilson is located on Lake Wilson Road. It is 90 acres offering a variety of activities including boating, fishing, and hiking trails. Lake Wilson offers great fishing for bream, bluegill, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and tilapia. The maximum lake depth here is 65 feet. The water level is generally stable, making it easier to fish. There are boat ramps available, allowing you to fish from the shore or from the water. Come fish in the morning or evening for the best times to catch, or spend the day on the water for a relaxing time.

Millstone Creek

If you’re interested in stream fishing, head to Millstone Creek. Here you’ll find largemouth bass, bluegill, bream, and smallmouth bass. Keep in mind that if the creek is flooded or under level, fishing could be more difficult. The best times to fish here are approximately 3:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. or 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you’re looking for a casual fishing experience, this is a great place to start. Bring along a lunch or head into town for a delicious meal. If you’re not having luck on the river, head to Millstone Creek Orchards for some fresh fruits and vegetables instead.

Wiggins Mill Reservoir

If you choose to head to Wiggins Mill Reservoir, you can take advantage of the boat rentals, bait shop, boat fishing, or bank fishing. The reservoir offers 285 acres of water and 130 acres of land. You can fish any time from sunrise to sunset, making this a great option. Wiggins Mill Reservoir is located on Highway 301 South. Here you can catch bream, bluegill, and more. The best times to hit the water are early in the morning before 5:30 a.m. or in the late afternoon between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
